Then write a two-page summary report of your observations addressing these three questions. 1) What Social Facts (Statistics) objectively indicate that there is a difference in the way US and European countries socialize youth about sexuality? 2) What different agents of socialization are being incorporated into the European model? Are these primary or secondary agents, and what is the cultural message being given by each? 3) How do the commercials and media campaigns use Symbolic Interaction to help meet the socialization goals of these societies? How are the symbolic meanings of sexuality, STDs, and pregnancy prevention, presented differently in Europe compared to the US? 4) Lastly, use the concept of Anticipatory Socialization, to explain why the European model is more successful compared to the General Socialization used here in the United States?
